New tomographic station HeliScan
Within the long-term cooperation with company Thermo Fisher Scientific in a field of computed tomography, the unique microCT system Heliscan was provided to our laboratory. This system has been designed for oil&gas industry with the aim of a measurement taller samples (like geological drilled core sample) and to obtain the quantitative data. The main characteristic of this system is the acquisition of object along the helical trajectory, which brings the total elimination of cone beam artefacts existing in standardly used circular trajectory. Together with special iterative reconstruction algorithm, this system provides high-quality data with the highest signal-to-noise ratio and up to voxel resolution of 0.8 µm. Our laboratory accomplished the current instrumentation with already the fourth system (more technical information here) in order to extend our expertise in material and life science.
